Redskins Cut DT Louis Nix & LB Lynden Trail From PS, Sign Three

The Washington Redskins announced that they’ve waived DL Louis Nix III and LB Lynden Trail from their practices squad.

The Redskins’ practice squad now consists of:

  1. OT Isaiah Williams
  2. WR Maurice Harris
  3. DL Bobby Richardson
  4. WR Kendal Thompson
  5. TE Wes Saxton
  6. OL Vinston Painter
  7. RB Mack Brown
  8. LB Amarlo Herrera
  9. DT Louis Nix
  10. C Austin Reiter

Nix, 25, is a a former third-round pick of the Texans back in May of 2014. He was entering the second year of his four-year, $2,852,252 rookie contract when he was among the Texans’ final roster at the start of the season.

The Giants elected to claim him off of waivers at the start of last year and brought him back on a future/reserve contract this past January. However, he was cut loose as the Giants got down to 53 players coming out of the preseason.

Nix signed to the Redskins’ practice squad a few days later.

In 2015, Nix appeared in four games for the Giants but did not record a single statistic.

Trail, 25, originally signed on with the Texans as an undrafted free agent out of Norfolk State back in May of last year. He was wound up being waived coming out of the preseason with an injury designation and was later cut with an injury settlement.

The Redskins signed him to their practice squad midseason and later brought him back on a future/reserve contract. After once again being a final roster cuts, the Redskins signed him to their practice squad.

Trail has yet to appear in an NFL game.
