Veteran DB DeAngelo Hall explained during an interview with 106.7 The Fan that he didn’t mean to say he officially retired while speaking to reporters on Monday, per Kareem Copeland.

Hall is still leaving the door open to returning for the 2018 season, but says he wants to make the official announcement with the team.

“It really has to be the perfect situation,” Hall said, per Copeland.

Hall then added: “Definitely leaning towards hanging it up.”

The Redskins announced Monday night that veteran DB DeAngelo Hall hasn’t officially retired from the NFL.

It’s worth mentioning that the news of Hall retiring was based on a report, but actual comments from Hall himself.

On Monday, Redskins DB DeAngelo Hall said he’s “done” playing football and is weighing offers to join a front office or work in TV, per John Keim.

This shouldn’t come as a big surprise, considering that Hall had indicated that he was likely to call it a career this offseason.

Hall, 34, is a former first-round pick of the Falcons back in 2004. He spent four years in Atlanta before he was traded to the Raiders in 2008.

The Raiders signed Hall to a big-money contract only to cut him loose later that season. Hall signed on with the Redskins soon after and would go on to play 10 seasons for Washington.

In total, Hall recorded 636 tackles, two sacks, 11 forced fumbles, 15 recoveries, 43 interceptions, 140 pass defenses and 10 defensive touchdowns over the course of 14 seasons and 171 games played. He was a three-time Pro Bowl selection.
