Redskins Have Had “No Discussions” With Teams About Trading QB Kirk Cousins

Redskins GM Bruce Allen told reporters on Tuesday that they have had “no discussions” with other teams trading QB Kirk Cousins, per Tarik El-Bashir.

John Keim of ESPN.com mentioned a few days ago he recently spoke with an NFL executive who believes the Redskins would be able to secure a third-round pick “at most” in return for Cousins.

Keim’s source believes this year’s quarterback class is decent enough that teams won’t need to trade for a quarterback unless they believe he’s capable of being starter for them.

Cousins has consistently been linked to the Browns given that they hired former Redskins offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan to run their offense. However, it appears as though the Browns have their focus elsewhere given that they have worked out nearly every quarterback prospect and signed veterans Vince Young and Tyler Thigpen earlier this week.

Cousins, 25, appeared in five games for the Redskins last year and completed 52.3 percent of his passes for 854 yards, four touchdowns and seven interceptions.

He started Washington’s final three games of the season after the team elected to bench Robert Griffin III, but they wound up losing all three contests.
