Redskins Have Reached Out To CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie

JP Finlay of NBC Washington reports that the Redskins reached out to free agent CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie last week.

However, Finlay admits that this doesn’t mean they’re signing Rodgers-Cromartie following the surprising release of Orlando Scandrick.

Rodgers-Cromartie recently worked out for the Seahawks and was reportedly set to meet with the Raiders as well.

The Chargers have also come up as a potential option for Rodgers-Cromartie.

A months ago, Rodgers-Cromartie told a group of Giants reporters that he planned to wait until closer to the season to sign with a new team. Rodgers-Cromartie added that multiple teams have contacted him and expressed interest.

Rodgers-Cromartie visited with the Redskins earlier this offseason but left without an agreement in place.

Rodgers-Cromartie, 31, is a former first-round pick of the Cardinals back in 2008. He was in the final year of his five-year, $35 million contract that included $13.98 million guaranteed and set to make a base salary of $6.48 million for the 2018 season when the Giants released him in a move that freed up $6.5 million of available cap space.

In 2017, Rodgers-Cromartie appeared in 15 games and recorded 48 tackles, a half sack, no interceptions and pass defense. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 58 cornerback out of 120 qualifying players.

We have him featured in our Top 50 Available 2018 NFL Free Agents list.
