Redskins Interview John Pagano For Defensive Coordinator Job

According to John Keim, the Redskins interviewed former Chargers DC John Pagano for their defensive coordinator job.

The Redskins have also interviewed Dennis Thurman, Rob Ryan, Greg Manusky, Gus Bradley and Mike Pettine for the position.

Washington elected to fire DC Joe Barry and a few assistant coaches a few weeks ago and go in a different direction on defense. In 2016, the Redskins were No. 18 points allowed, No. 3 total yards allowed, No. 21 rushing yards allowed and No. 2 passing yards allowed.

Pagano, 49, began his NFL coaching career with the Chargers back in 2002 and has spent 15 years in San Diego. He worked his was up to defensive coordinator back in 2012, even though the team made a coaching change in 2013.

Unfortunately, the Chargers elected to replace him as their defensive coordinator after they hired Anthony Lynn as their new head coach.

In 2016, Pagano’s defense ranked no. 29 in points allowed, No. 16 in total yards allowed, No. 10 in rushing yards allowed and No. 20 in passing yards allowed.
