The Redskins have announced that WR Santana Moss will be out for 5-7 weeks following Monday’s surgery on his left hand.

The Washington Post reports that Redskins WR Santana Moss will have surgery on his left hand sometime today and should end up missing “at least a month” of action.

This reports indicates that Moss’s injury is worse than it was initially believed as other reports from last night suggested that Moss should only be out for 3 or 4 weeks. This is a huge loss for the Redskins who are already going to be without Tim Hightower who wound up suffering an ACL injury on Sunday.

Jabar Gaffney, Niles Paul and Anthony Armstrong will make up the teams receiving core while Moss is out.
