Redskins More Likely To Draft RGIII Than Sign Peyton Manning?

NFL Network’s Jason LaCanfora joined “The Sports Junkies” on 106.7 The Fan and mentioned that he sees Baylor QB Robert Griffin III as a more likely option for the Washington Redskins than Peyton Manning.

I don’t see why Peyton Manning would want to go [to Washington].”  LaConfora said.  ”I mean you’re still rebuilding an offensive line.  There’s question marks up and down the roster.  There are no skill players right now of any merit.  I mean, Fred Davis is the game-breaker on offense and the next time he gets caught smoking pot, he sits down for a year.

LaCanfora adds that Mike Shanahan isn’t going to give Manning as much leeway as he had in years past with the Colts.

You’ve got Mike and Kyle Shanahan who have micro managed everything there,”  he said.  ”Are they really going to turn it over to a 36-year-old injured Peyton Manning there and say ‘Yea, call all the plays at the line of scrimmage.  You run the offense, you know, take over OTA’s, it’s all you Peyton, we’re just going to sit back and watch.’”

The Redskins have been connected to Manning for a number of weeks now but it’s getting harder and harder to imagine that he’ll have serious interest in joining the Redskins. Changing leagues and dealing with the media twice a year when he’s playing his brother seem unappealing enough to cross them off the list let alone what LaCanfora mentioned.
