Redskins Could Move On From WR DeSean Jackson Next Year

Jason Cole of B/R spoke to a source who said that it’s a “50-50 situation” whether the Redskins will keep WR DeSean Jackson beyond this year.

Cole mentions that the belief is that Jackson is injury prone, considering that he’s yet to play a full season since joining the Redskins a few years ago and has only played two full seasons in his entire career.

There has been some question as to whether the Redskins will keep either Jackson or Pierre Garcon next year, especially after they used a first-round pick on Josh Doctson this year.

Jackson, 29, is a former second-round pick of the Eagles back in 2008. He’s currently in the final year of his three-year, $24 million contract that included $16 million guaranteed.

Jackson stands to make a base salary of $3.75 million for the 2016 season before testing the open market as an unrestricted free agent next year.

In 2016, Jackson has appeared in eight games for the Redskins and caught 30 passes for 416 yards receiving and one touchdown.

We’ll have more regarding Jackson’s future with the Redskins as the news is available.
