Redskins Not Lowering Demands For Haynesworth

The Washington Redskins haven’t shied away from the fact that they are willing to trade Albert Haynesworth. While this has been the case for some weeks now, the team still hasn’t lowered their asking price for the disgruntled defensive lineman.

The latest news on a possible Albert Haynesworth trade comes from Jason Reid of the Washington Post who reports that sources close to Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan have said that although the coach is willing to part with Haynesworth, he remains unwilling to lower his asking price below a second-round pick. Reid mentions that Shanahan isn’t known to lower his demands when in trade discussions which is the most likely reason why talks between the Redskins and Titans have cooled in the last few weeks.

Reid also writes that he has confirmed with multiple Titans sources that the team is interested in trading for Haynesworth but is sticking with their initial offer of a four-round pick. The Redskins are maintaining that they want a second-round pick and would also like to recover a portion of the $20 million that was paid to Haynesworth in April of this year.

The trade deadline is still another four weeks away so there remains time for the two parties to work things out but as of right now the Redskins appear to be willing to keep Haynesworth and try to salvage some amount production from him this season.
