Redskins NT Phil Taylor Out For Season With Quad Injury

John Keim of ESPN is reporting that Redskins nose tackle Phil Taylor will miss the entire 2017 season with a quad injury he suffered during Sunday’s preseason game.

This is terrible news for Taylor, who was attempting to revive his NFL career and actually looked pretty good this summer.

You can expect the Redskins to place him on injured reserve in the coming days.

Taylor, 29, was taken with the No. 21 overall pick by the Browns back in 2011, but was one of the more notable roster cuts at the start of last season.

Cleveland wound up picking up Taylor’s fifth-year option and he was on roster first day of the league year, which fully guaranteed his base salary of $5.477 million. However, Taylor was reportedly dealing with knee issues that led to the Browns moving on.

The Broncos signed him to a contract last year before placing him on injured reserve and cutting him loose a few days later. Taylor signed a future/reserve contract with the Redskins this offseason.

In 2014, Taylor appeared in just five games and recorded 10 tackles and a pass defense for the Browns.
