Redskins Place OLB Houston Bates On Injured Reserve With Torn ACL

Redskins HC Jay Gruden announced Tuesday that OLBĀ Houston Bates tore his ACL during Monday night’s loss to the Panthers, per Mike Jones.

The Redskins officially placed him on injured reserve shortly after making the announcement.

Bates, 25, signed with the Redskins as an undrafted free agent out of Louisiana Tech back in May of last year. He was, unfortunately, among the team’s final roster cuts at the start of the regular season but was later added to their practice squad.

Washington eventually promoted Bates to their active roster towards the end of the season and he managed to make the 53-man roster this season.
Bates is in the second year of his three-year, $1.575 million and stands to make a base salary of $615,000 in 2017.

In 2016, Bates appeared in 14 games and recorded seven tackles for Washington.
