Redskins Could Be An Option For Recently Released ILB D’Qwell Jackson

John Keim of ESPN.com writes that he would be “surprised” if the Redskins didn’t show interest in recently released ILB D’Qwell Jackson.

Keim points to the fact that Washington could use a veteran presence at inside linebacker and currently outside linebackers coach Brian Baker worked with Jackson in Cleveland a few years ago.

A source who spoke with Keim wouldn’t admit interest in Jackson as his release has yet to become official, so any interest at this point would be considered tampering.

Keim does, however, add that the Redskins have “done their homework on him.”

Jackson, 30, contributed 139 tackles, one sack, an interception and a forced fumble over the course of 16 games to the Browns’ defense last year. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 42 inside linebacker last season.
