Redskins Place Colt McCoy On Season-Ending I.R. & Promote LB Jackson Jeffcoat

The Washington Redskins have placed QB Colt McCoy on season-ending injured reserve on Tuesday with a neck injury.

  • OLB Jackson Jeffcoat has been signed to the team’s active roster to take McCoy’s place.

Head coach Jay Gruden mentioned that McCoy’s injury isn’t considered to be a long-term concern and they will now move forward with Robert Griffin III as their starting quarterback for the final two games of the season.

McCoy, 28, is in the final year of his contract and will be an unrestricted free agent in the next few months, so it will be interesting to see if they elect to bring him back for another year.

McCoy’s 2014 season ends with him throwing for 1,057 yards while completing 71.1 percent of his passes to go along with four touchdowns and three interceptions over the course of five games.
