Redskins Place Rookie RB Derrius Guice & TE Manasseh Garner On Injured Reserve

According to Adam Schefter, the Washington Redskins have placed rookie RB Derrius Guice and TE Manasseh Garner on injured reserve Saturday.

This is terrible news for Guice and Washington, as this will end his 2018 season. Yesterday, a report mentioned that the initial diagnosis for Guice was that he had a sprained MCL, but an MRI showed that the injury was, in fact, a torn ACL.

Guice, 21, was selected with the second round of this year’s draft by the Redskins. According to OverTheCap.com, Guice signed a four-year, $4,541,936 contract that includes a $1,383,224 signing bonus.

During his three-year college career at LSU, Guice rushed for 3,074 yards on 471 carries (6.5 YPC) to go along with 32 receptions for 250 yards receiving 32 total touchdowns over the course 35 games.

Garner, 26, originally signed on with the Chiefs as an undrafted free agent out of Pittsburgh back in May of 2015. Since then, he’s played for a number of teams including the Browns, Bills and Broncos.

The Redskins signed Garner to a contract last year only to cut him loose coming out of the preseason. He was on and off of their roster during the season.

During his college career, Garner caught 52 passes for 637 yards receiving and five touchdowns over the course of 39 games.
