Redskins Place Rookie WR Josh Doctson On Injured Reserve, Promote WR Maurice Harris

The Washington Redskins announced Friday that they’ve placed rookie WR Josh Doctson on injured reserve with an Achilles injury and promoted WR Maurice Harris to their active roster.

Redskins HC Jay Gruden said Doctson possibly could be the designated to return player, but they’ll have to see later on, per Mike Jones.

Early in the week, Gruden said that they were sending Doctson to get a second opinion on his Achilles injury, but placing him on injured reserve was “a possibility.

This move will cost Doctson the next eight weeks of the season.

Doctson, 23, was taken with the No. 22 overall pick, which was a bit of a surprise pick for Washington. He signed a four-year, $10.049 million contract and stands to make a base salary of $450,000 for the 2016 season.

This season, Doctson has appeared in two games for the Redskins and caught two passes for 66 yards receiving and no touchdowns.
