Redskins Ready To Make Roy Helu Featured RB?

Washington Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan mentioned during an interview with ESPN Radio in Washington Friday that he sees RB Roy Helu as a 25 carry running back.

“I think he is right now,” Shanahan said. “I think he got stronger (in Week 12 against Seattle).”

Shanahan was initially reluctant to commit to Helu as a featured running back but the performance from Ryan Torrain has forced the issue and Helu was able to show some positive things last weekend. Obvious, he has a brighter future than any running back currently on the Redskins roster but the team will likely look to find a complimentary back during the offseason.
