Redskins Release S Dashon Goldson

Tarik El-Bashir reports that the Redskins have released veteran S Dashon Goldson on Monday.

This is the fourth roster cut the Redskins have made just today after they parted ways with QB Robert Griffin III, DT Jason Hatcher, and S Jeron Johnson.

Goldson, 31, was in the the fourth year of his five-year, $41.25 million contract that included $22 million guaranteed. He was set to make a base salary of $7.5 million for the 2016 season.

According to OverTheCap.com, releasing Goldson will free up $8 million in available cap space while creating no dead money.

In 2015, Goldson appeared in 15 games for the Redskins and recorded 110 tackles, one interception returned for a touchdown, a forced fumble and three pass defenses for Washington.
