Redskins Rookie WR Josh Doctson To See Another Doctor For Achilles Injury, I.R. “A Possibility”

Redskins HC Jay Gruden told reporters on Monday that they’re sending first-round WR Josh Doctson to see another doctor regarding his Achilles injury and placing him on injured reserve is “a possibility.,” but they don’t know yet, per Mike Jones.

Although, Gruden admitted that they don’t know what they’ll do in regards to Doctson as of now. Gruden stressed that they’re concerned about the longevity of Doctson’s career,  per JP Finlay.

Just last week, Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reported that Doctson would need a few more weeks before he’s ready to return from his Achilles injury, but the team believes he can ultimately avoid being placed on injured reserve.

A few weeks ago, Gruden previously told reporters that was “very concerned” about Doctson’s Achilles injury.

“We’re not trying to rush him. We’re just trying to see how he’s doing every day,” Gruden said of Doctson.

According to Gruden, tests didn’t show any further damage and this will ultimately come down to “pain management” for Doctson.

Doctson, 23, was taken with the No. 22 overall pick, which was a bit of a surprise pick for Washington. He signed a four-year, $10.049 million contract and stands to make a base salary of $450,000 for the 2016 season.

This season, Doctson has appeared in two games for the Redskins and caught two passes for 66 yards receiving and no touchdowns.

We’ll have more regarding Doctson and his return as the news is available.
