Redskins Placing S Su’a Cravens On Non-Football Exempt List

Mike Jones reports that the Redskins are placing S Su’a Cravens on the non-football exempt list.

Mike Garafolo of NFL Media reports that the Redskins may take S Su’a Cravens off of their active roster and place him on the NFI list at some point in the near future.

Sources tell Garafolo that this is more than a physical thing for Cravens and the Redskins “want to get him right.

Adam Schefter of ESPN is reporting that Redskins S Su’a Cravens told some Redskins on Saturday that he plans to retire from the NFL, but a meeting with team officials has changed his mind for now.

  • Mike Jones reports that Cravens wasn’t at Redskins practice this morning and this isn’ the first time he’s considered retirement.

Cravens is expected to miss the start of the season while nursing a knee injury.

Cravens, 22, is a former second-round pick of the Redskins back in 2016. He’s currently in the second year of his four-year, $4.430 million contract that included $2.523 million guaranteed and stands to make base salaries of $450,000 and $651,408 over the next two years of the agreement.

In 2016, Cravens appeared in 11 games for the Redskins and recorded 34 tackles, one sack, an interception and five pass defenses. Cravens was limited to playing 294 total snaps last year.
