Redskins Showing Serious Interest In Matt Flynn?

ESPN 980 Washington’s Chris Russell takes an extensive look at the Washington Redskins options at quarterback for the 2012 season but focuses mainly on Green Bay QB Matt Flynn who will be a free agent in the coming weeks.

Russell mentions that sources within the Redskins organization informed him that they’re “very interested” Flynn. He also adds that Mike and Kyle Shanahan have discussed Flynn following his six-touchdown performance against the Detroit Lions to close out the regular season.

Earlier today ESPN’s Mel Kiper told reporters that Redskins were not high on Flynn and mentioned the possibility of drafting a quarterback.

A few days ago posted a report from CBS Sports analyst Charley Casserly in which he mentioned that Matt Flynn was not a fit for the Redskins and suggested that the Browns, Seahawks and Dolphins would make more sense.

Still, you shouldn’t rule out Redskins as being a player in the Flynn sweepstakes. He’s an accurate passer that can move around enough to make people miss. Washington put together a pretty good draft  last year and would be wise to employ a similar strategy this season unless someone falls into their laps at #6. Drafting a quarterback in the later round also seems like a strong possibility.
