Redskins Sign CFL LB Willie Jefferson

Aaron Wilson of the National Football Post reports that the Redskins have signed CFL LB Willie Jefferson to a contract on Thursday.

  • Wilson previously reported that Jefferson had interest from two NFC teams.

This likely a future/reserve contract, which will give him an opportunity to compete for a roster spot in offseason workouts and training camp.

Jefferson, 24, originally signed on with the Texans as an undrafted free agent out of Stephen F. Austin back in 2013. He managed to make the 53-man roster coming out of the preseason, but was waived a few months into his rookie season.

The Bills later signed him to a future/reserve contract in January of last year, but he lasted just a few months in Buffalo before he was cut a week or so before the start of free agency.

In two seasons with the Eskimos, Jefferson recorded 43 tackles, 10 sacks, and a fumble recovery.
