Redskins Sign LB Nick Moody, Place DE Anthony Lanier On I.R.

The Washington Redskins announced that they’ve signed LB Nick Moody to their active roster on Tuesday and placed DE Anthony Lanier on injured reserve.

  • The Redskins also signed DL A.J. Francis and DB Shak Randolph to their practice squad and released DL Trevon Coley and DB Lee Hightower from the unit.

Moody was suspended for the first four games of the 2016 season for violating an NFL policy.

Moody, 26, is a former sixth-round pick of the Seahawks back in 2013. He was a restricted free agent this offseason, but the Seahawks elected to not use a tender on him, making him an unrestricted free agent.

In 2015, Moody appeared in three games for the Seahawks, but didn’t record a single statistic.

Lanier, 23, wound up signing a three-year, $1.62 million contract with the Redskins as an undrafted free agent out of Alabama A&M back in May. He managed to make the 53-man roster coming out of the preseason and stands to make base salaries of $540,000 and $630,000 over the next two years.

In 2016, Lanier appeared in four games for the Redskins but did not record a tackle. He did, however, recovery a fumble.
