The Washington Redskins and LT Trent Williams have reached an agreement on a five-year, $66 million extension, according to Ian Rapoport.

  • Adam Schefter confirms the report and adds that Williams receives $43.25 million guaranteed.
  • According to Rapoport, Williams will receive $32 million at signing.

At an average base salary of $13.2 million per year, Williams is now the highest paid left tackle in the NFL, beating out Cowboys LT Tyron Smith who makes $12.2 million per year.

Last we heard, the two sides were reportedly far apart in contract talks, so it appears as though they made some serious progress in the past few days.

Williams, 26, is in the final year of his six-year, $60 million contract that included $36.75 million guaranteed. He’ll make a base salary of $10.25 million for the 2015 season to go along with a cap figure of $13.7 million.

In 2014, Williams appeared in 15 games and was rated by Pro Football Focus as the No. 18 offensive tackle out of 84 qualifying players.
