Redskins Sign S Jamarca Sanford

Pro Football Talk is reporting that the Redskins are signing S Jamarca Sanford to a contract on Monday.

Sanford, 29, is a former seventh-round pick of the Minnesota Vikings. He spent just over five years with the team before he was placed injured reserve and later released with an injury settlement close to a month ago.

Since then, Sanford has tried out for teams like Colts and Jets.

Washington could really use some help at the safety position given that the Giants were able to beat their current group of safeties fairly easily throughout last Thursday’s game.

Last year, Sanford appeared in 13 games and recorded 57 tackles, two forced fumbles, one recovery and a single pass defensed.
