Redskins To Sign WR Keenan Reynolds & DT Tavaris Barnes To Practice Squad, Cut Two

The Washington Redskins announced Wednesday that they’ve signed WR Keenan Reynolds and DT Tavaris Barnes to their practice squad and released WR Shakeir Ryan and OT Givens Price from the unit.

The Redskins’ practice squad now consists of:

  1. DL Brandon Banks
  2. WR Robert Davis
  3. TE Manasseh Garner
  4. WR Maurice Harris
  5. LB Pete Robertson
  6. S Fish Smithson
  7. OL Anthony Fabiano
  8. NT Ondre Pipkins
  9. WR Keenan Reynolds
  10. DT Tavaris Barnes

Reynolds, 23, was selected with the No. 182 overall pick by the Ravens back in May of last year. There was some question as to whether he would be allowed to differ service time to play in the NFL but the Naval academy decided that he could defer his military service.

Unfortunately, Reynolds was waived coming out of the preseason before later being signed to the Ravens’ practice squad. Baltimore eventually promoted him to their active roster in December.

Reynolds returned to the Ravens on an exclusive rights deal this past April but was cut loose coming out of the preseason.

During his four-year college career at Navy, Reynolds threw for 4,001 yards while completing 52.4 percent of his passes to go along with 31 touchdowns and eight interceptions. He also contributed 4,559 yards rushing on 977 attempts (4.7 YPC) to go along with 88 touchdowns.

Barnes, 26, wound up signing on with the Saints as an undrafted free agent out of Clemson back in May of 2015. He managed to make the 53-man roster during his rookie season but was waived in the days leading up to the 2016 NFL Draft.

The Seahawks signed him to a contract just a few days later but unfortunately waived him with an injury designation during the preseason and he later reverted to their injured reserve list.

After Seattle declined to tender him a qualifying offer this offseason, Barnes signed on with the Buccaneers. However, he was among their final roster cuts coming out of the preseason.

In 2015, Barnes appeared in 12 games for the Saints and recorded five tackles and no sacks.
