Redskins Signing RB Byron Marshall Off Eagles’ Practice Squad, Waiving DL Brandon Banks

Master Tesfatsion reports that the Redskins are signing RB Byron Marshall off of the Eagles’ practice squad on Tuesday.

Ben Standig also reports that the Redskins are waiving DL Brandon Banks.

Marshall, 23, wound up signing a three-year, $1.62 million contract with the Eagles as an undrafted free agent out of Oregon back in May of last year. However, he was unfortunately among their final roster cuts coming out of the preseason before being signed to their practice squad and eventually promoted to the team’s active toward the end of last season.

The Eagles once again cut Marshall loose coming out of the preseason and later added him to their practice squad.

In 2016, Marshall appeared in three games for the Eagles and rushed for 64 yards on 19 carries (3.4 YPC) to go along with three receptions for 10 yards receiving and no touchdowns. He also contributed 36 kick return yards.

Banks, 23, wound up signing a three-year, $1.66 million contract with the Redskins as an undrafted free agent out of Charlotte back in May. He was set to make base salaries of $465,000 and $555,000 over the first two years of the contract when the Redskins cut him loose coming out of the preseason and later signed him to their practice squad.

Washington promoted Banks to their active roster a few weeks ago.

In 2017, Banks has appeared in one game and recorded a single tackle for the Redskins.
