Redskins Targeting A Number Of Key Free Agents?

NFL Network’s Jason LaCanfora reports that the Washington Redskins intend on targeting see big name free agents once free agency is finally open for business. La Canfora specifically mentions Jets WR Santonio Holmes and Packers DT Cullen Jenkins along with Ravens G Marshal Yanda, Jets NT Kris Jenkins, and Giants DT Barry Cofield as players that they are interested in.

La Canfora adds that Holmes is Mike Shanahan‘s “primary objective” and Yanda is close to the top of the list. Both of these players will be hard to pry away from their respective teams considering that they’re both winning franchises that value each of the before mentioned players. Cullen Jenkins has been tied to the Redskins for a number of weeks now and no one would be surprised to see him land in Washington. Coefield would be an interesting addition considering that he’s played in a 4-3 scheme in New York but there’s a chance he could make the transition to a 3-4.

Coming off of a truly disappointing season in 2010, Mike Shanahan may already be feeling the pressure which is why there are a number of reports suggesting that they’re planning on addressing team needs in the free agent market.
