Redskins Waive CB David Amerson, Re-Sign DE Frank Kearse

The Washington Redskins placed CB David Amerson on waivers Monday and re-signed DE Frank Kearse, according to the NFL transactions release.

  • Field Yates points out that Amerson is the highest drafted player from the 2013 NFL draft to be released by his respective team.

Amerson, 23, is a former second round pick of the Redskins back in 2013. He has two years remaining on his four-year, $3.85 million rookie contract and stands to make base salaries of $705,082 and $880,123 over the next two years.

This season, Amerson has appeared in two games and recorded two tackles and a pass defense for Washington.

Kearse, 26, is a former seventh-round pick of the Dolphins back in 2011. However, he lasted just a few months in Miami before he later signed on with the Panthers.

Since then, Kearse has played for the Titans and Cowboys before joining the Redskins on a one-year contract back in May. He’s been on and off of the Redskins’ roster in recent weeks.

In 2014, Kearse appeared in 15 games for the Redskins and recorded 15 tackles and three sacks.
