Redskins Waive Former 4th Rd S Phillip Thomas, Sign Two CBs

The Washington Redskins announced that they’ve placed former fourth-round pick S Phillip Thomas on waivers Wednesday.

  • Washington also waived/injured CB Tevin Mitchel and signed cornerbacks Bryan McCann and DreQuan Hoskey.

Thomas, 26, had one year remaining on his four-year, $2.585 million rookie contract which included a base salary of $585,000 for the 2015 season.

According to OverTheCap.com, releasing Thomas  will free up $510,000 in cap space while creating no dead money.

In 2014, Thomas appeared in eight games and recorded 27 tackles and fumble recovery. He previously missed the entire 2013 season after he sustained a broken foot.
