Redskins Waive S Josh Evans, Promote RB Mack Brown

The Washington Redskins announced Friday morning that they’ve waived S Josh Evans and promoted RB Mack Brown to their active roster.

Evans, 25, is a former sixth-round pick of the Jaguars back in 2013. He was in the final year of his four-year, $2.289 million contract and set to make a base salary of $675,000 for the 2016 season when the Jaguars elected to cut him loose coming out of the preseason.

The Redskins signed Evans to contract earlier in the month.

In 2016, Evans appeared in two games for the Redskins and recorded one tackle and no interceptions.

Brown, 25, originally signed on with the Texans as an undrafted free agent out of Florida back in May of last year. He lasted close to a month in Houston before signing with the Redskins at the start of the preseason.

Brown was on and off of their practice squad during his rookie season but returned to Washington on a future/reserve contract this past January. He was once again unable to make the 53-man roster before signing to the team’s practice squad at the start of the season.

Brown has yet to appear in an NFL game.
