Redskins Waived LB James Gayle

The Washington Redskins announced that they’ve placed LB James Gayle on waivers Wednesday.

Gayle, 24, originally signed on with the Titans as an undrafted free agent out of Virginia Tech back in 2014. Gayle was unfortunately cut loose after a few months in Tennessee before signing a future/reserve contract with the Redskins in January of last year.

Washington elected to place Gayle on waivers with the injury designation before later reverting to injured reserve.

He was set to make a base salary of $450,000 for the 2016 season. According to OverTheCap.com, waiving Gayle will free up $450,000 in available cap space while creating no dead money.

Gayle has yet to appear in an NFL game.
