Redskins Will Make An “Aggressive Effort” To Sign Peyton, With RGIII As Backup Option

Mark Maske of the Washington Post reports that numerous sources “familiar with the Redskins’ plans” expect the team to pursue Peyton Manning “intently.”

Maske adds that Washington will make an “aggressive effort” to get him under contract but concedes that other team like the Cardinals, Dolphins, and Jets may have a better shot at signing him.

Maske believes that the better for the franchise is to trade up for Robert Griffin III who they’ll pursue if they lose out on Manning.

That does it. We’ve officially heard from every speculative option that they all have serious interest in signing Manning. It’s going to come down to a number of factors but Peyton will clearly be able to choose where he plays football next year.
