Report: 49ers G Alex Boone Open To Being Traded & Signing Extension With A New Team

Matt Maiocco of CSN Bay Area reports that 49ers veteran G Alex Boone is open to being traded and signing a long-term contract with another team.

Boone has once again decided to sit out of the 49ers’ voluntary activities and the two parties have not discussed a contract extension in recent months.

However, if he’s still with the 49ers by the time training camp opens, Maiocco mentions that Boone plans to report on time.

Boone, 27, is in the final year of his five-year, $7.450 million contract that included $2.24 million guaranteed and stands to make a base salary of $3.4 million for the 2015 season.

According to OverTheCap.com, trading Boone would free up $3,400,000 in available cap space while creating $340,000 in dead money.

In 2014, Boone appeared in 15 games for the 49ers and was rated by Pro Football Focus as the No. 17 guard out of 78 qualifying players.
