Jets Bringing In Free Agent WR Austin Collie For A Workout

Update:

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the Jets are bringing in free agent WR Austin Collie for a workout on Monday.

  • Schefter adds that the Jets are also working out former Ravens K Billy Cundiff to compete with Nick Folk

Collie, 27, has also had workouts with the Patriots and 49ers, so there is clearly a decent amount of interest in him.

The Jets could use some additional help at receiver, so we’ll have to see if they are willing to extend him an offer.

Matt Barrows of the Sacramento Bee reports that the San Francisco 49ers are still interested in possibly signing free agent WR Austin Collie, but are likely to wait until after training camp to make a decision.

Barrows adds that the 49ers would like to see if one of their young receivers are capable of performing well enough to prevent them from adding a veteran like Collie.

Collie, 27, worked out for the team back on June 13, but was not offered a contract. He suffered a torn pattela tendon last season and has a very serious history of concussions. If San Francisco is in fact interested in signing him, he would likely command only the veteran’s minimum.
