Report: 49ers Want CB Carlos Rodgers To Cut His Salary By “More Than Half”

Matt Maiocco of CSN Bay Area reports that the 49ers want veteran CB Carlos Rogers to reduce his salary by “more than half” next season.

Should Rogers be unwilling to take a pay cut next season, Maiocco expects San Francisco to cut him loose. The 49ers approach him about reducing his salary last year, but an injury to Chris Culliver changed the negotiations and ultimately led to him playing out the season under his scheduled salary.

Rogers, 32, totaled 47 tackles, two interceptions, and eight pass defenses over the course of 16 games last season. Pro Football Focus rated Rogers as the No. 71 cornerback in 2013, struggling particularly in coverage.
