Report: Arizona Will Pay Kevin Kolb His $7 Million Roster Bonus

ESPN’s Suzy Kolber reports that the Arizona Cardinals have made the decision to keep Kevin Kolb and will now pay him his $7 million roster bonus for the 2012 season.

This essentially eliminates them the Peyton Manning sweepstakes as they wouldn’t be able to release Kolb at a later time while signing Manning to a market value contract. Reports mentioned that Manning was expected to inform them of his intentions at some point today but no official reports have come out suggesting as much so far.

There’s no question that this will be a make-or-break season for Kolb who battled injuries throughout the 2012 season and actually looked worse than John Skelton. Kolb’s poor performance last year is already having reciprocal effects on the market for Matt Flynn as teams are reluctant to match the contract that Arizona gave him last year.
