Report: Bears Reach An Agreement With DT Jay Ratliff On A One-Year

Update:

———-

Ed Werder of ESPN reports that the Chicago Bears have reached an agreement with former Cowboys DT Jay Ratliff on a one-year deal.

  • Werder adds that the Bears sold Ratliff on playing against the Cowboys later this season and had Jay Cutler and Julius Peppers meet with him during his visit.
  • Ian Rapoport reports that Ratliff is still two-four weeks away from playing.

Ratliff was released by the Cowboys just a few weeks ago and has already found a considerable amount of interest from NFL teams. He has met with the Chiefs, Dolphins and Bears, while the Bengals reportedly reached out to Ratliff as well.

Ratliff, 32, underwent sports hernia surgery last year, but unfortunately suffered a hamstring injury during the preseason that has kept him out since.

Chicago lost DT Henry Melton for the season and could really use some more depth at the position now that other players have also suffered injuries of their own.

  1. Well you comments on Ratliff and his injury is one way to state it. The other is he’s a thief who took $18 million and refused to play.
