Report: Bears DT Henry Melton Out For The Season

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that Bears DT Henry Melton is out for the year after an MRI revealed that he does in fact have a torn ACL.

You really have to feel for this kid. Melton has quickly became one of the league’s best interior lineman and he was playing the 2013 season under the franchise tag. He’s earned a long-term deal, but talks between the two sides broke down. It know appears as though he’ll have much harder time securing a sizable long-term contract.

We have Melton listed as our No. 4 player in our Top 50 – 2014 Free Agents list.

Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune reports that the Bears fear that DT Henry Melton may have suffered a torn ACL during Sunday night’s win over the Steelers.

  • Biggs cautions that Chicago does not have definitive idea regarding the severity of Melton’s knee injury.

Melton is scheduled to undergo an MRI on Monday, but Biggs expects the Bears to bring in some free agents in the coming days.

Either way, it appears Melton will miss a good portion of the season.
