Report: Bengals & LB Vontaze Burfict Have Reached Impasse In Contract Talks

ESPN’s Adam Caplan reports that the Bengals and LB Vontaze Burfict appear to have reached an impasse in contract talks.

The Bengals have reportedly been working on an extension for Burfict in recent months, but it appears as though the two sides have some ground to make up in regards to what his salary would be.

Burfict, 23, wound up going undrafted out of Arizona State back in 2012 due to numerous concerns, but he has quickly developed into the Bengals best linebacker, and surprisingly led the NFL tackles last season.

Burfict is in the final year of his contract and will be a restricted free agent next year. As of now, he stands to make just $570,000 for the 2014 season, so you can see that he has clearly earned a significant pay raise.

Last year, he totaled 170 tackles, three sacks, an interception, a forced fumble, two recoveries and a defensive touchdown.
