Report: Bengals Not An Option For Free Agent QB Michael Vick

Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk reports that the Cincinnati Bengals have no interest in pursuing free agent QB Michael Vick this offseason.

Florio mentions that the Bengals were one of the teams to show interest in Vick a few years ago before he ultimately ended up signing with the Eagles.

Recent reports have indicated that the Bengals could approach Andy Dalton regarding a contract extension in the coming months, so bringing in more competition could result in a quarterback controversy at the first sign of struggle from Dalton.

Vick, who will be 34 in June, is widely considered to be the best available quarterback in this year’s free agent class. His durability remains a question mark and his age isn’t exactly ideal. However the limited depth at quarterback should be enough for Vick to at least secure an opportunity to compete for a starting job in training camp, which is something the Bengals can’t offer him.

Speculative options for Vick include the Jets, Raiders, Buccaneers, Texans, Vikings and possibly a return to the Eagles.

We have Vick listed as the No. 42 player in our Top 50 Free Agents list.
