Report: Eagles Hire Bill Musgrave As New QB Coach

According to Alex Marvez of Fox Sports, the Philadelphia Eagles have hired former Vikings OC Bill Musgrave as their new quarterbacks coach.

Musgrave, 46, takes over for Bill Lazor who departed for the Miami Dolphins offensive coordinator position. Musgrave worked as the Vikings offensive coordinator from 2011 to 2013, but the team’s offense came under a good deal criticism during this time. Of course, Christian Ponder‘s struggles didn’t help, but there were numerous times where Adrian Peterson was on the sideline in big moments, and game-breakers like Percy Harvin and Cordarrelle Patterson were under utilized.

Prior to Musgrave arriving in Minnesota, he served five seasons as the Atlanta Falcons quarterbacks coach and helped to develop QB Matt Ryan. The Vikings never put up gaudy passing numbers under Musgraves tutelage, so it will be interesting to see how Musgrave works with Eagles QB Nick Foles in the coming years.

Working with Chip Kelly is an obvious plus for Musgrave.
