Bills Sign LeSean McCoy To A Five-Year, $40M Contract

Jeff McLane first reported that the Bills have agreed to a new five-year contract with RB LeSean McCoy that will be official once the trade with the Eagles is finalized on Tuesday.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that McCoy receives a five-year contract worth $40 million that included $26.5 million guaranteed. According to Schefter, McCoy will make $16 million in 2015.

According to Pro Football Talk, McCoy’s cap figures will be: $5.5M in 2015, $7.675M in 2016, $8.875M in 2017, $8.95M in 2018, $9.05M in 2019.

  • Mike Garafolo previously reported that the Bills were close to an agreement on a new contract with McCoy.

This is a massive haul for McCoy in a time when running backs are squeezed in terms of salary.

DeMarco Murray is probably thankful that this deal was agreed to before the start of free agency on Tuesday, as he could use all the leverage he can get in contract talks.

McCoy, 26, had three years remaining on his six-year, $45.615 million contract that includes $20.765 million guaranteed. He stands to make base salaries of $9.75 million (2015), $6.9 million (2016), and $7.6 million (2017) coming his way over the next three years.

Last year, McCoy ran for 1,319 yards on 314 carries (4.2 YPC) to go along with 28 receptions for 155 yards receiving and five total touchdowns.
