Report: Bills Reach Agreement With LB Brandon Spikes

John Wawrow of the Associated Press, citing a person familiar with talks, reports that free agent LB Brandon Spikes has agreed to deal with the Bills.

  • Chris Trapasso reported that the Bills had an agreement with Spikes several hours ago.
  • Wawrow adds that Spikes has agreed to a one-year contract.
  • Adam Schefter reports that Spikes receives a one-year deal worth $3.25 million.

Spikes, 26, was one of the best available inside linebacker in this year’s free agent market, but surprisingly had generated very little buzz in recent days. The recent decision to move Kiko Alonso to outside linebacker seemed to foreshadow the Bills adding a linebacker such as Spikes at some point during free agency.

Spikes totaled 86 tackles, an interception and a fumble recovery over the course of 16 games for the Pats.

Pro Football Focus has Spikes rated as the No. 6 inside linebacker in the league last season. We have him listed as the No. 31 player in our Top 50 Free Agents list.
