Bills Sign QBs Matt Leinart

Update:

Mike Garfolo of Fox Sports confirms that the Bills have signed QB Matt Leinart.

Leinart, 30, has spent the last few years playing backup for the Texans and Raiders. His role in Buffalo will be that of insurance while E.J. Manuel and Kevin Kolb nurse injuries.

Mike Garafolo reports that sources have informed him that the Bills will bring in veteran QBs Matt Leinart and John Beck for workouts at some point in the near future.

  • Adam Schefter reports that Leinart’s workout is scheduled for Sunday.

Bills HC Doug Marrone mentioned after Saturday’s preseason game that were going to look for another veteran quarterback to sign following Kevin Kolb‘s concussion.

Kolb looked to have taken a hit to the back of the head during first-quarter while scrambling. The team later announced that he was dealing with concussion-like symptoms.

Buffalo was forced to turn to undrafted rookie Jeff Tuel to replace Kolb due to E.J. Manuel being held of the team’s third preseason game.

It’s worth noting that Kolb has dealt with a few concussions in the past, so there’s a chance this could keep him out of action for a little while.

We’ll have more regarding Leinart and Beck in the next few days.
