Report: Bills “Working Hard” To Re-Sign DE Jerry Hughes

Charles Robinson of Yahoo Sports reports that the Bills are “working hard” to re-sign free agent DE Jerry Hughes and prevent him from reaching the open market.

  • However, Robinson adds that this looks like “a biding situation” as of now.

Yesterday, Pro Football Talk mentioned that the Jets decision to re-sign ILB David Harris to a three-year contract worth $21 million increases the likelihood that the Bills would try to bring back Hughes.

Hughes and his agent are clearly aware that they’re in a position of leverage, seeing as he’s likely to be one of the most sought after defensive ends in free agency.

Hughes, 26, recorded 53 tackles, 9.5 sacks, three forced fumbles, one recovery and even scored a defensive touchdown for the Bills defense. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 14 defensive end in a 4-3 system out of 59 qualifying players.

We have Hughes currently listed as the No. 10 player in our Top 100 Free Agents list.
