Report: Broncos Are Brock Osweiler’s Team Moving Forward

Jay Glazer of FOX Sports reported Sunday that the Broncos are now Brock Osweiler‘s team.

According to Glazer, Osweiler is dealing with a Grade 2 separated shoulder, but even that won’t change the fact that Denver plans to move forward with him as their starting quarterback, rather than turn to Peyton Manning.

Glazer mentions that it looked like Manning could return to the starting role, but that was put on hold. Manning isn’t even practicing with the team, so it’s clear that they focused on getting Osweiler ready to lead the team the rest of the way.

Manning said during an interview Sunday that he’s doing everything he can to get ready, but also admitted that he’s willing to what’s best the team no matter what they decide.

Denver still has plenty to play for, considering that they haven’t even locked up a playoff spot. Beyond that, that they could still lose the division to the Chiefs and a first-round bye is still a possibility for them.

Osweiler, 25, is in the final year of his four-year, $3.516 million rookie contract that included a $997,584 signing bonus. He’ll make a base salary of $660,000 for the 2015 season before becoming an unrestricted free agent next year.

This season, Osweiler has thrown for 1,436 yards while completing 60.3 percent of his passes to go along with eight touchdowns and four interceptions over the course of seven games. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 27 quarterback out of 37 qualifying players.
