Broncos Announce Hiring Of Gary Kubiak

Update:

The Denver Broncos announced the hiring of Gary Kubiak on Monday

While there is no question he is a Bronco, what Gary has learned from his other opportunities around the league — especially in his eight seasons as a head coach — will tremendously benefit our organization,” GM John Elway said.

Mike Klis of the Denver Post reports that the Broncos are finalizing a four-year contract with Ravens OC Gary Kubiak to be their next head coach.

  • According to Klis, Kubiak will officially be introduced next Tuesday.

This should come as no surprise seeing as Kubiak has been the clear favorite for the better part of a week.

Broncos president/GM John Elway was meeting with Kubiak in Houston to discuss the position, but Lions DC Teryl Austin and former Bills HC Doug Marrone both cancelled their scheduled interviews with the team because they felt it was a foregone conclusion that Kubiak would get the job.

Klis previously mentioned that Denver is likely to bring in Ravens quarterbacks coach Rick Dennison as their offensive coordinator next season to aid the process of installing Kubiak’s offensive system.

Kubiak had interest from other NFL teams, but he released a statement saying that he planned to remain in Baltimore as the team’s head coach. However, this was before the Broncos parted ways with John Fox.

There will be a lot of questions pertaining to Peyton Manning and how he fits into Kubiak’s system. Although, Manning has yet to commit to returning for the 2015 season.

Kubiak spent eight years as the Texans head coach before being fired following the 2013 season. His record during this time is 61-64 (.488 percent) to go along with four playoff games and two playoff wins.
