Report: Broncos HC John Fox Expected To Be Away From The Team For 4-6 Weeks

Broncos HC John Fox informed Jay Glazer of Fox Sports that he will undergo a procedure on his aortic valve on Tuesday that will keep him away from the team for four to six weeks.

  • Glazer adds that Fox still expects to be involved with the team.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Saturday night that Fox knew he had an issue with his heart valve that needed to be addressed at some point, but he was hoping to wait until after the season to address the problem.

“It’s something I’ve known I needed to take care of for a while,” Fox said, per Glazer. “It’s ironic this happened when I came to meet with the surgeon. I was hoping to wait but it’s better to be smart about this.”

Ian Rapoport reports that DC Jack Del Rio is the favorite to take over while Fox is away from the team.

It certainly helps to have arguably the best quarterback in the league under center.

Hopefully Fox will only need a few weeks to recover from a very serious situation. We wish him the best with his recovery and procedure.
