Report: Cardinals Reach An Agreement With RB Rashard Mendenhall

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the Arizona Cardinals have reached an agreement in principle with RB Rashard Mendenhall.

Mendenhall’s agent has confirmed that he’s signed a one-year deal with the Cardinals.

Previous reports indicated that the Broncos could be the favorites to sign Mendenhall, but that was before he flew into Arizona last night. The fact that the Lions were poised to lock up Reggie Bush most likely fueled their negotiations.

We had him listed as the No. 51 best available player in our Top 100 Free Agents list.

Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk reports that a league source has informed them that the Broncos are likely to sign RB Rashard Mendenhall.

Mendenhall reportedly had interest from the Cardinals, but it appears as though the Denver could prevent him from signing on to play with his former offensive coordinator Bruce Arians. The Dolphins were rumored to have interest as well, but we haven’t heard anything regarding them since free agency opened.

Signing Mendenhall would be an indication that Willis McGahee could be on his way out of Denver.
