Report: Browns Bracing For “At Least” Eight Game Suspension For Josh Gordon

Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports that the Browns are bracing themselves for “at least” an eight-game suspension for WR Josh Gordon.

According to Cabot, a decision in Gordon’s appeal hearing could take anywhere from one to three weeks.

However, the Browns are reportedly hoping to work out a settlement with the league that would reduce Gordon’s suspension from a full year, to something close to eight games. Although, the team isn’t counting on an agreement at this point in time.

Gordon and his attorney’s maintain that his positive test was triggered by second-hand smoke and point to the fact that he has passed 70 drug tests since 2012.

Gordon is still only 23 years old, and incredibly talented.  Even if he were to receive a full year suspension, he would return to the league as a 24-year old, presumably with one less year of wear and tear.

Last year, Gordon caught 87 receptions for 1,646 yards receiving and and nine touchdowns over the course of 14 games.

Well have more regarding Gordon as the news is available.

  1. At this point, I hope he gets the year suspension. I love Gordon but these young kids in all of sports (not just football) need to learn that when playing at a high level in a professional sport, they need to surround themselves with the right crowd. If you have gotten busted for dugs, should you be around someone who is using drugs? Hopefully a year suspension will make him realize to truly clean up his act.
